FEBRUARY 27, 2011 - MANHATTAN - Lobby ceiling Mural by Spanish muralist Jose Maria Sert over 30 Rockefeller Center's 50th Street side entrance Lobby Desk and Fire Station area. This mural is one of four in lobby showing Man's Conquests. Sert used perspective to create optical illusion, so man astride the two columns in front of entrance door appears centered when viewer sees it from center of lobby, but man looks leaning to left when viewed from left side of lobby, and leaning to right when viewed from right side of lobby. subjects proportionally bigger the closer to ceiling so viewers from floor level would view scene in proper perspective. In Manhattan, New York City, NY, USA. NOTE: additional images of this mural taken from sides of lobby to show effects of optical illusion. (Editorial Use Only)
