Garden City, New York, U.S. November 21, 2013. An illustration, using data by Zuluaga and Ferrin, that depicts the path the Chelyabinsk meteor, a Near-Earth asteroid, struck Lake Chebarkul in Russia February 2013, was shown during lecture by NASA Astronaut R. Schweickart, 1969 Apollo 9 Lunar Module LM Pilot, during his Legends of Air and Space lecture at Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island. Schweickart, a co-founder of the Association of Space Explorers and of the B612 Foundation, spoke on the importance of defending Earth from asteroid impacts.
